CBD vs THC

One of the most often asked question is…

“What’s the difference between CBD and THC?”

According to Healthline, “Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many active compounds found in the Cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another active compound and the most well-known, thanks to its psychoactive properties — it’s the one that gets you ‘high.’

“CBD is nonpsychoactive but has a number of the same medical benefits as THC. This allows you to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits without leaving you with the “stoned” feeling that often goes hand in hand with THC.

“That said, marijuana-derived CBD products, or CBD products that contain THC, may be more effective than fiber hemp. But if you live in a state that hasn’t yet legalized medical marijuana or these strains are unavailable, you can still benefit from products containing industrial hemp-derived CBD.

“We suggest checking your state’s laws regarding CBD oil.”

Maintaining Homeostasis Through the Use of Cannabis

Efforts to maintain balance or homeostasis happen constantly in our bodies as our systems, including the endocannabinoid system, are always regulating to adjust for any change in the internal environment. Disturbances of these internal environments can lead to cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, stroke, glaucoma, and numerous other diseases. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating the many processes including pain management, immune response, appetite, energy regulation, mood, and memory to name a few. By utilizing cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors found throughout the immune system and central and peripheral nervous systems the endocannabinoid system works to maintain homeostasis. Once an imbalance is detected, the body produces cannabinoids to interact with the cannabinoid receptors, which will send a chemical response that will return physiological process – back to homeostasis…or balance. The body creates cannabinoids on demand, however if the case of a deficiency, supplementing the body with CBD or Hemp may lead to improved general health.

The endocannabinoid system is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which are endogenous lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the vertebrate central nervous system and peripheral nervous system.

A couple weeks before my plantar fasciitis surgery, Karen devised a course of treatment for me involving THC tincture and CBD balm. The improvement is stunning, and there’s just a chance that I will be able to dodge having surgery on my foot. Thanks Senior-High, for your sage advice.

Thank you so much for recommending Papa & Barkley Relief Balm. I have been using it on my knee to help my arthritis. It works great and I am able to enjoy my yoga classes much more. I also have begun using it on my left hip where I have a torn tendon and it is helping as well.
